Drinking contaminated water even if boiled will still result to sickness such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid to name a few. They will first ignore it and will tend to resort to natural cures like herbal plants found in their backyard. For several days the sick becomes worst, they would only go to the hospital if they are already in critical condition. This will definitely cost them their hard earned savings for payment to the doctor, confinement, 

medicines and even death. 

 

Poor families rely on municipal supply pipes and even deep well which may be very near the septic tank. The municipal supply pipes that pass through the towns may be corroded and leaky, especially at places where the illegal connections have been made, making them vulnerable to contamination from the outside. The potential for contamination is extremely high.  

 

In schools, our children used to drink tap water since the cost of a bottled mineral water is too expensive for them but for some, they would buy soft drinks instead because the price is just the same as the mineral water. But drinking soft drinks with its acidic content is not good for health, it causes kidney problems, can damage our children’s metabolism, can cause obesity, can cause cell damage, can cause tooth decay and others. 

 

Most of these water treatment stations are located in the market, schools, churches and other commercial areas. People who lived far from these water stations are desperate to acquire safe drinking water, they will need to travel far just to acquire a gallon of water and sometimes they travel by foot just to save transportation expenses. 

 

In addition to the immediate ‘human’ costs of a lack of access to safe drinking water, there is also a wider economic cost to consider. The costs associated with medical bills, loss of productivity and labor diversions are greatest in some of the poorest districts. With this initiative, we plan to make it a wide scale operation, from every barangay, to every district, to every municipality and every city in the country. An ultimate goal to end the crisis with contaminated drinking water where in the struggle for life is already difficult.
